Thank you so much for all who participated in Friends PetDash Virtual 5K this year! The community joined together to help us raise over $11,000 to support vital programs at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. We were ecstatic to welcome 101 participants to our race this year, as well as 5 sponsors.
We kicked off Friends PetDash Virtual 5K on National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, a day to celebrate shelter pets and encourage the community to adopt, don’t shop. We are grateful our community shares our mission of helping pets at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter in need.

We are celebrating National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day with a virtual 5K – April 30 – May 8. Join us and help raise funds for Shelter pets!
In recognition of National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day, Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter (Friends) is hosting a Virtual 5K Run/Walk or any other activity that achieves 3.2 miles on a date and time of your choosing between April 30 and May 8. Our Virtual 5K allows you to participate at your own pace, in your own time and your home, neighborhood or on your favorite trails. This is a family-friendly activity, pets welcome event that allows you to help raise funds for the Fairfax County Animal Shelter (Shelter) anywhere that is safe to run or walk. ADOPT A SHELTER PET DAY ON APRIL 30TH
Kick off the start of the virtual 5K in style and join us on Saturday, April 30, at Mustang Sally Brewing Company, 14140 Parke Long Ct A-C, Chantilly, VA 20151, as we enjoy the special brew created for Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter by Mustang Sally. Limited edition and sure to be tasty! Please join us at this family friendly event, pets welcome from 1 pm – 6 pm. We’ll also have adoptable pets from the Shelter and more!
Check out Friends RunSignUp store where you can purchase a Friends PetDash Virtual 5K swag bag that includes a Friends PetDash t-shirt and mesh bag, food can lid, and Friends sticker. You can also donate towards our parasite prevention and collar, tag, and leash programs.
Friends is happy to announce that we have sponsorship opportunities available for our PetDash Virtual 5K. Your sponsorship of $500 allows us to help more pets at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter each day. Individuals, organizations, and businesses who choose to become a Save A Life Sponsor will receive their logo or name on the back of our Friends PetDash T-shirt, logo or name on our RunSignUp website, Friends website, Summer newsletter, and a shoutout on our Facebook page of your support for Friends PetDash Virtual 5K 2022. Additionally, Save a Life Sponsors will receive a complementary Friends PetDash swag bag. There are limited sponsorship opportunities available until April 10th, so be sure to register early!
