Rocky and Rose were adopted as senior dogs in Spring 2025, shortly after the family had to say goodbye to their original senior rescue. Rocky is a bigger dog, with arthritis in his hips. Although a bit of a picky eater, he loves his homemade meals (ground turkey, sweet potatoes, white potatoes, broccoli) that supplement his dry food. His mom gushes, “He is the sweetest most loving dog ever, and he likes to ‘mush’ his head into me to get head rubs and kisses.”

Rose, a boxer-mix, is a sassy but sweet girl, always wanting to be the center of attention. She is unusually “vocal” – snuffling, huffing, puffing, and snoring. Rose’s mom admits, “Her favorite person in the world is my adult son, John. When he visits, she pretends I don’t exist!” But her favorite place in the house is the loveseat, her head resting on a pillow.

Both Rocky and Rose are amazing, and they get along well with their other furry brother, Henry. They enjoy watching birds and squirrels from their backyard while checking out other people and dogs. Thanks to Friends, both dogs came with a $500 Pender vet certificate. Mom noted, “We visited the vet shortly after I adopted them, and they both got a clean bill of health, except for the normal issues that arise with aging. They are my babies and will have a guaranteed loving home with me until the end.”
