Simba was lovingly taken in as a stray by a young family. However, when they found out pets were not allowed in their complex, they had to make the heartbreaking decision to surrender him to the Shelter. At some point in his five years, Simba developed “Phthisis bulbi” (or sever eyeball shrinkage) in his right eye and a retinal detachment in his left requiring a full enucleation (which was funded by our generous Friends donors). To add insult to injury, Simba also suffers from primary hypertension which is a life-long affliction.

With all of his health issues, you’d think Simba would be a hard-sell for adoption. But the minute his new family saw him and heard his “chirp,” they knew he was the perfect fit!

“Simba is the sweetest; he loves to be included in everyday activities. He sits on the trash can to watch people cook, and he checks on everyone at bedtime and [first thing] in the morning. [During] flu season…we learned Simba will stay with you until you feel better.”

“He’s so playful and loves exploring. Simba’s one eye never stops him from [playing] and he’s worth the extra time a disabled cat takes.”

“We are so grateful for Simba and the help he received before he found us.”
