Duckie (Ducksworth – just Duckie now) was dropped at the Shelter after being found “loitering” around an Annandale shopping center. Despite her 12 years (and some serious dental disease requiring full extractions, which Friends helped to mitigate), Duckie began to show her adventurous side while coaxing as many pets out of the Shelter staff as she could.
Once out on her Adoption Audition, Duckie made sure to nail it and that she did; suffice to say, she never went back! “Duckie has fit into our lives so beautifully and so easily,” her new mom said. “Watching her become a big sister to her nine year–old, 80–pound German Shepherd brother has been one of our favorite things. She holds her own, knows exactly who she is, and clearly feels comfortable and loved here.”
Even after her tooth extractions just a week before coming to her new family, “Duckie has been the absolute sweetest, quirkiest little girl we could have hoped for. We honestly forget she’s 12 sometimes because her personality feels so young and playful. She has such a spark to her and brings so much joy into our home.”
“We are incredibly grateful to Fairfax Animal Shelter and Friends for taking such great care of her before she came to us. It means so much knowing she was loved and supported every step of the way. Thank you again for everything you do and for helping Duckie find her way to us.”
