Topnotch Toto

Topnotch Toto

Toto (née Shaggy) came to the Shelter as a surrender. During his vet evaluation, it was determined that he would need dental care, with which Friends assisted via voucher. Also, true to his old name, he was very long-haired, so much so that there was severe matting that required a full-body shearing.

Cut to his potential adopters – Toto’s new family had been on the hunt for a small non-shedding dog to join their very eclectic animal family including another dog, cats, guinea pigs, and a hedgehog! After seeing this happy-looking, young pup on the Shelter website, his mom-to-be thought, “This is it!” As soon as they found out he was available, mom and daughter rushed to the Lorton Shelter. What a surprise when they saw this closely shaven doggy, but that didn’t stop them or Toto as he hopped right into mom’s lap for kisses. The family was immediately smitten, despite his temporary “coif” (and his curly hair is quickly growing back in!).

Toto is becoming quite the character. He loves to snuggle, being dressed up, and carried around. He plays nonstop with his doggy sister, an Aussie Shepherd who adores him. His forever mom thanked the Shelter and Friends, saying, “We really appreciate your generosity for our little guy [and] providing the funds to get his dental…he did really well and his breath is so much better! Thank you for all you’re doing…we are so lucky to have found all of our pets [through the Shelter], and Toto has been the perfect addition to our chaotic crew!”
