Doug the Determined

Doug arrived at FCAS in rough shape – he had severely broken his right leg at some point while stray, and it was evident he’d need emergency medical care to ease his pain. After receiving a medical evaluation, we learned that amputating the injured leg would be the best course of action.

Successful Spay for Simona

Simona looks like she could be right out of a fairy tale, and we are grateful that Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter could help provide her happily ever after. After serious complications with her pregnancy, Simona was surrendered into the care of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter for urgent medical assistance. She was rushed to the veterinary hospital and vet staff determined that Simona needed an emergency spay surgery to remedy the complications. Friends quickly provided the funding for this treatment that would give Simona a fighting chance.

Buffie the Brave

Tough situations don’t seem to keep Buffie down – even with two casted legs, he was good-spirited and as loving as could be. Thanks to your support, Friends was able to help Buffie through a hard time and get him the care he needed. Buffie ended up at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter with injuries to both of his front legs, requiring them to be plated. Friends funded his expensive, but essential, surgery to give him a leg up (or two!) towards a healthy and comfortable life.

Mighty Mozzarella

While we are unsure of where Mozzarella came from, we are grateful he found his way towards help when he was picked up on Route 50 in Fairfax by the Fairfax County Animal Protection Police. He was limping and clearly in rough shape, covered in hives from allergies. Mozzarella could not put weight on his back right leg and was immediately taken to Pender Veterinary Hospital where his x-rays revealed he had a compound fracture to his femur.
